Far West Madison

The Far West side is home to some of Madison’s most popular shopping and dinning choices. Residents in this area are within close proximity to West Towne Mall, one of two large malls in Madison, along with popular chain restaurants, local favorites, and plenty of shopping. These neighborhoods are also within a few miles of City of Middleton and all it has to offer. Memorial, one of the cities largest high schools, and quick access to Hwy 12/14 give the residents of this area a lifestyle of ease and convenience. With downtown only 15-20 minutes away, the city is at your fingertips in this area of Madison.

Popular Far West Neighborhoods
1.) Blackhawk
The Blackhawk Homeowners Association was established in 1997, and is neighborhood of 485 homes on Madison West side. Known for it’s beautiful homes, this neighborhood is a regular part of the Madison Area Builder Association’s “Parade of Homes”. Pleasant View Golf Course is located just across Blackhawk Road. Blackhawk is also popular with families for its easy access to several schools and more than 40 acres of parks and green space. Middleton-Cross Plains School District serves the area.

Points of Interest: Blackhawk Park, Pleasant View Golf Course, and Swallowtail Park.

2.) Junction Ridge
The Junction Ridge Neighborhood Association is a social and community organization made up of homeowners, condo owners, renters and businesses organizes and financially supports neighborhood events. Their aim is to make this a place that is great to live in. Currently, they are planning a community garden. Amenities include a park with basket ball court, walking trails, and friendly neighbors. In this neighborhood, you will find children playing in the street and elderly people taking a walk at dusk.

Points of Interest: Convenient shopping & dining within walking distance.

3.) Sauk Creek
A wooded, windy greenway system located on the western edge of Sauk Creek Neighborhood makes this an ideal place for nature lovers. Mature trees, wildlife, and peaceful walks are at ones finger tips if you live in this far west side neighborhood. For more active play, residents also can enjoy basketball, soccer, and playground time at either Haen Family Park or Sauk Creek Park. This suburban neighborhood was built up in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Colonial and two-story modern homes with two car attached garages are typical for the area.

Points of Interest: Easy access to Old Sauk Road and the West Beltline Highway makes it convenient to reach the West Towne shopping area, City of Middleton, and Highway 12/14.

4.) Wexford Ridge
The Wexford Ridge Neighborhood is a multifamily community. The residential area is within walking distance to public schools (Jefferson Middle and Memorial High School are located across the street) and a regional shopping center (West Towne Mall area). The former Wexford Ridge Neighborhood Center space has been recently occupied by a team of service people: Police, Joining Forces for Families, and the Public Health Nurse. This team was created to bring more services into the neighborhood for the residents.

Points of Interest: Jefferson Middle School, Lussier Community Education Center, Memorial High School, and West Towne Mall.

5.) Walnut Grove
Walnut Grove Homeowner’s Association is one of the few neighborhoods in the city that owns and maintains their greenways and walkways. Step outside your home and access an extensive bicycle/walkway system from any street or cul-du-sac in the neighborhood! Jefferson Middle and Memorial High School is a mile away. Alica Ashman Branch Library, West Towne Mall area, and access to West Beltline Highway are all within 1-2 miles.

Points of Interest: Walnut Grove Park and Westside Farmer’s Market.
